What is Expeditionary Learning? 11/1/2009 9:24 PM Open School has chosen Expeditionary Learning as a potential new model beginning in the 2210-11 school year, pending school board approval.  The new model blends nicely with our strong traditions of self-directed, hands on learning and strengthens our school-wide thematic curriculum.  From the ELS website: At the heart of Expeditionary Learning Schools are learning expeditions, interdisciplinary units aligned with state and district standards. The ELS approach is experiential and project-based, involving students in original research -- with experts -- to create high-quality products for audiences beyond the classroom.
