The weather wasn't the only exciting thing going on Saturday....

Open School's Lego League competed on Saturday at the First Lego League
regional .  Our students presented themselves well during each
facet of the event. [mission performances, technical judging, and research
presentation]

Open School received the Judges' Award, which is presented at the discretion of the judges to special or unique solutions or teams.  Open School was given the award for "Great integration of a wide range of ages into a team."  After reading this I thought to myself, how fitting that the only K-12 school in the city earned this.

The whole program is designed for 4th - 9th grade students. Because most
schools don't have all the age groups, the organization has broken
the competition in to divisions one and two, for 4th-6th grade and 7th-9th
grade essentially.  Since Open's team had 4th - 9th, we were required to be
in division two. All of the students worked so well together and apparently
it showed.

This award qualifies us to compete in the FLL State competition on January 26th, 2008.

Please congratulate all of the students:
